To choke you now

Having spent some time with Halo Reach, I took it upon myself to review the title. As there was no publication available to which I could submit my piece, I am posting it here. There are very, very minor spoilers, but only for people who haven’t played it at all thusfar. The single player and multiplayer is covered, although obviously the multiplayer has a lot more to offer over time than this week-later review can convey. You can find it after the jump. Comments/criticism welcome.

Devil May Cry Bitter Tears Of Fucking Disappointment

Published on Sep 17th, 2010 by

New Devil May Cry announced. Well, just DmC at the moment. Ninja Theory. Something something, emo Dante. I’m not going to explain this in detail because Lauren has already done so.¬†If you’re somehow out of the loop, and want to get an idea of just what the hell I’m talking about, go read her post. I am going to embed the same video a little way down though, as I’ll be referring to it.

Anyway, I was linked to over there as having a theory on this new DmC game, so I thought ‘why not share that theory on this blog’. So I’m going to. It’s not a particularly in-depth theory, nor is it one I’m suggesting is likely correct (we just don’t know at this stage, part of me is hoping it’s a total series reboot, I see no harm in this), but it’s a possibility. The hints are there. Maybe.

My God sits in the back of the limousine

This blog is my attempt at some kind of mini-rebellion, and I kind of like it. Posting random shit is quite cathartic. I can understand the appeal. I’ve kept blogs before, of course, even as far back as when Livejournal was still socially acceptable, but I’m at least making an effort to be coherent this time round.

Of course, I’m not saying anything¬†contentious or inflammatory, even if sometimes I’d like to. I’ve never been a very confrontational person. It’s not that I don’t have conviction about things, it’s just that for the most part airing one’s disillusionment on the internet is like screaming at a rock concert; nobody really cares because they’re screaming too. Nothing shocks people any more, and it’s very hard to make a stand against anything because of this. Also; perceptions are very hard to shatter, no matter how much you might attempt to break them, and you’ll still be labeled as X or Y because people want you to be X or Y, because of who you work for or who your friends are or what you look like or who you like to fuck. Sometimes people want to be Z, or 3, or purple but they can’t because nobody’s really interested, and maybe the only available options are X or Y anyway.

The Cost of Freedom

Published on Sep 12th, 2010 by

Imagine you’re in a forest. The trees, tall and full, whisper tales of the evening. Wild flowers are sprinkled across the luscious carpet of grass. It is summer. The sun’s rays shine through the boughs, gradually thinning to fine points as it sets, the sky ablaze with fire. Erratic birdsong punctuates the air, moments of choral bliss between nature’s silence. You are barefoot. Each footstep leaves no imprint, the grass springing back up behind you to cover your trail. There is no discernible entrance to the clearing. You are just here, and the arrival or departure is of no consequence.

Fake Friends

Actually, I don’t.

Not much of length to say at 02:52 in the morning, but I’m listening to Joan Jett songs on Youtube (Spotify has a disturbing lack of Joan Jett/Joan Jett & The Blackhearts/The Runaways, although it does have some songs – I should really buy some CDs). Joan Jett is pretty awesome. Properly anthemic, catchy 70s and 80s rock. I don’t really need to elaborate on this, everyone knows at least a couple of her songs. I hope.
